About the service

A thorough analysis of official degrees or diplomas earned abroad — secondary school, undergraduate and graduate — carried out by agencies certified by and affiliated with recognized bodies such as NACES or AICE.

Document-by-document establishes the U.S. equivalency of the degree you earned. Course-by-course converts each subject of your study plan to the U.S. grading scale and calculates your GPA, whether or not you finished the program.

You probably need it if

  • You live in the U.S. and want to prove your professional level.
  • An employer asked for evidence of your degree.
  • You are filing an initial petition, or answering an RFE or a NOID.
  • You are applying to a college, transferring credits or finishing a degree you started abroad.
  • You are joining the armed forces.

Two types of evaluation

Sample: Document-by-Document

Identifies each degree or diploma you earned and states its U.S. equivalent — for example, that a five-year Licenciatura is equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree.

It does not list your courses or grades, so only your degree or diploma is needed.

Best for

  • Employment in the U.S.
  • Immigration petitions (H-1B, EB-2, EB-1, O-1)
  • The armed forces

Questions

What is a U.S. degree equivalency for?

You may need it to prove your professional level, for an immigration process (an initial petition, a Request for Evidence or a Notice of Intent to Deny), to join the armed forces, or for any other reason that requires validating your degree.

What is a transcript (course-by-course) equivalency for?

To enter a college or university, finish in the U.S. a degree you started abroad, start graduate or doctoral studies, or support an immigration process.

Can I get an equivalency for my high school diploma?

Yes. The secondary-level report gives the U.S. equivalency and includes the GPA, a common requirement for freshman admission.

Can I validate a Higher Technical (TSU) degree?

Yes. It is usually equivalent to an Associate Degree, about 60 credit hours.

Can I validate undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degrees?

Yes, as long as the issuing university is official or accredited.

Can I request a transcript evaluation if I did not finish my studies?

Yes. A course-by-course evaluation grants a number of undergraduate or graduate credits for the courses you completed.

Will my degree have the same equivalency in the U.S.?

That is what the evaluation determines. Sometimes it is the same or similar, sometimes it differs, depending on the U.S. database of professions and degrees.

What is a regulated profession?

One that only people with the required license may practice. In the U.S. each state regulates professions such as medicine, dentistry, psychology, law, education, architecture, accounting, nursing, pharmacy and civil engineering, through its professional regulation agencies.

How will I receive my equivalency report?

The original report is mailed free of charge to your U.S. address. Mailing outside the United States has an additional charge.

Do my documents need to be translated into English?

Yes, a certified translation is required. If yours are not translated, add an ATA certified translation to your request.
